1st clam

Hi all,

Just bought my first clam today. A nice big squamosa, about 5". I finally have it acclimated and added. After a nice DT's dinner I added. Now that it is in my tank have a question. Sorry for not knowing the appropiate terms but here it goes. The large and small opening, whatever they are called. The large opening is facing the front of the tank due to the way it was attached to the rock. The smaller end is facing the rear of the tank. The smaller end is raised about 3/4 inch from the center, at the store the center area appeared flat and uniform. Is this a bad sign?

incurrent and excurrent siphons. the incurrent is the long slit facing the front, and the excurrent is the tube pointing away. the tube shape is fine and basically just funnels the water out of the clam in a stream. the smaller opening creates more pressure and thus a higher rate of flow for water exiting the clam which helps to push excreted wastes away from the clam

Thanks all. Today the little guy decided to slide off the rock he was on. Now on the gravel. Still looks good.
