2 Centropyges in a 65?

Hey guys,

I have a Potters and Pygmy Cherub together in a 150g rubbermaid as the only fishes. They eat everything and get along great, with the Potters being the boss. I got them when the Pygmy was just a baby and it has doubled in size since then, but the Potters is still bigger. I love these guys as they are such characters, but I have too many tanks running right now and either need to get rid of them or put them in a 65, which measures 48x18x18.

Should I even attempt this? What are the chances of them still getting along? Any tips on how to reintroduce them if I attempt this? Should I put them in together or put the potters in first, followed by the pygmy - so that the hierarchy has a greater chance of being preserved.

Thanks!

I think adding them at the same time would work best. Eliminates either one from establishing itself as the alpha fish. It can still be a gamble moving them to smaller quarters but I'm thinking it will work. If you have enough rock for shelter, they can keep out of each other's way. I used to kep a cherub angel and an eibli together with few problems other than an occassional charge or chase.

Since they already seem to get along, or at least not kill each other, I'd say try it. If the C. argi is still young it has plenty of room, too..
Plus, they don't look similar, which also causes fights.
Add both at once, though, like Jerry W. said.

If they have been together for this long and nothing has happened you will be fine. The argi will get a bit more fiesty just cause of nature. I have a flame angel and a potters in my 46 bow they were introduced almost a year after one another too. Flame then potters. I would get your tank ready then throw them in at the same time as the first fish. That way they are both disoriented. From my experience that will probably work the best. Hope this helps.

I had a Flame Angel in my 90 gal for a few years and then added a Half Black Angel. They got along fine, so multiple angels can get along. It just depends on the individuals. I did have to get rid of the Half Black because he started to really go at my corals.

Since your angels are already together without problems, I imagine you should be fine. But as with any fish you never completely know. Good luck.
