the sand was also used from an established tank, and so was the rock, just each fro mdiff. tanks


the water from his 40, sand and rock from his bro's 55 gallon, would this still cause a cycle in his tank?

No the tank still needs to cycle. It needs to go through nitrate and nitrite spikes. Adding water, sand, and rock will cycle it faster, but it still needs a good month of cycling. Do not try to rush things. When you said I can't wait to get started so I am not going to cycle it is rushing things. In Salt Water you have to be patient.
