Hi I've got a 46 and I'm looking to put a flame and some other angel preferably a flame back. I don't know if size matters but the flame angel that i'm looking at is 1 1/2 to 2 inches. The tank is a reef with lots of rock work algea along with swimming room.

I hope you're prepared to remove everything in the tank so you can catch them when they start fighting.

Thanks for the advice the algae is covered, i feed nori everyday and i have over 90 lbs of live rock.

I have kept several in tanks smaller then that, right now in my 24 gal nano I have a or of potters and a single fishers with no trouble. the main thing is lots of live rock for both foraging on algae and hiding places and to add them or introduce them in a way that they get used to each other. What I did to add the female potters, which I collected a year after the male was collected, was to put the female in a clear plastic container for a couple of weeks then I just removed the top and let her find her own way out, other then a little chasing every once in a while they get along great.

+1 on the plastic container to acclimate the new addition.

I've had a Rusty and False Lemonpeel in a 54gal corner bowfront for 6 months. They got along great! I'd catch them cruising the tank together, then they'd go their own ways for a few hours. They'd keep coming back together for a swim a few times a day.
