2 Hydor Koralia Evolution 1400 GPH Powerhead Pumps good flow for my 220g tank or not even close. I just installed these when I purchased them at my local reef shop I know most would say go with 2 MP40s or 1 MP60 but I'm looking for some feedback if they are ok or I just need to dig in the pocket and go with 2 MP40's I don't plan on going SPS dominant I would like to put some clams and maybe a few SPS but if these powerheads are not even in the the ballpark to where I need to be I'll be returning them quickly. Current'y the tank only has a Rose bubble Anenome in it and fish so it's not crucial that I make this change ASAP was trying to to just pinch a few pennies after this large build.

I have a 7 foot 250 with 300lbs of live rock. For current I have 3 hydor 1400's, 2 coralvue 3600's, and 2 hydor 750's. Keeping in mind my tank is prodominently NPS corals which require a lot of flow.

Even with that ammount of flow I still have one dead spot in my tank I'm needing to play with to remove.

So with all that being said I guess it all depends on your rock work and tank dimensions.

I have two controllable koralia mag8s on my 220.. you should also be addng your return into the over all water flow in the main display. 1xmp60 if you were running an SPS 220, 2xmp40s are the most common situation (one on each side of tank)

have you looked into the WP40s??? they seem to be decent pumps at great prices. ive been debating ether either two mp40s or two wp40s my self lately.

but to give you a decent reply to your original question. im not sure spending the money on vortechs here is 100% worth it. obviously its your coin. but there is a scale here. keep the koralias. poss spend some more on two WP40s, spend a lil more on TUNZE, or spend a lot more for VORTECHS. they all do the same thing, some in different ways.

my 2 cents to you would be look into the WP40s if your looking to upgrade your pumps that are eventually going to aid a mixed reef. similar settings as a vortech and tunze at a much less sticker price and they are supposed to be an adequate upgrade from koralias...you have options other then straight to vortechs if your looking to upgrade your flow...
