2 New babies aquired

:celeb3:I have just aquired a pair :beerf Clown Percs. that are .25 inch long. What do you feed your babies. I really hope they will mate one day. Oh ya they are housed in my 12 Gallon Nano Cube which has one Watchman goby and a bunch of coral. A Nano Koralia ciruculation pump and the regular powerhead in the rear of the tank. No filter just live rock in the back. Please help.

Wow thats small. If they are Percs be prepared for very slow growth. I would start off with brine shrimp to get something into their systems, then move to mysis, and a good flake.

Stay away from using brine as a normal staple. Brine holds little to no nutritional value. I would stick with mashed up Mysis, Prime Reef flakes and some Cylopeeze. That should help them color up nice. Any pictures?

Ya I do have pics but I will have to put them up tonight as I am at work and have no access to the camera. I am so excited to see these to grow up. Someone said they take a long time to grow??? How long is long?:sad2:

Live adult brine shrimp can be enriched for nutritional value - but they are huge and would be about 50% of the mass of a baby perc that you have.

Baby Brine Shrimp newly hatched would be ok for your percs, however you need to break them/wean them off to something easier to feed (e.g. freeze dried food). Some breeders skip the bbs and just go straight to a dry food. Also I just realized your fish are in your "display". bbs would get devoured by the corals and such.

Whoever sold the percs to you should be able to tell you what they were feeding them last. I believe most breeders sell the fish after they have been weaned onto dry food.

Also - if you got them from the same breeder - then you may not want them to mate as their offspring would be from a brother/sister.

I only said to start with brine. I find feeding small fish the first day or so with brine makes the transition to mysis and other foods easier.

cute fish! They look pretty small. Hard to tell based on the pump's wire.

To give you an idea - here are my babys born on dec 18:

This was taken yesterday in a specimen container which was inside a 5 gallon tank on display at the Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. We were there for an event promoting conservation/ocean. Yours look similar in development to mine - but after 60days - I don't have any exp!

Aren't you concerned about the pump catching the fish? of course maybe they are bigger than i think.

would do frozen mysis mixed with minced clams...i would also recomend getting a rotifer culture going till they got a little bigger...mixing some different diced frozen foods in...
