2 pairs of clowns in a 125??

When I get my 125 set up, (it's 6 foot long, 18" wide), I was wondering if I can have 2 pairs of clowns. I have heard of people mixing clowns. And my friend rescued this clown which was a different species from his percula and he has no problems in his 75.

I have a pair of mated occelaris. I was wondering if I could get a pair of Onyx and there would be enough room in a 125. Are these 2 species less or more aggressive against other clowns?

I guess if they set up home at complete opposite ends of the tank you could get away with it...

It would be a little tricky to arrange, or indeed lucky, but it could be done.

i have a pair of false percs and a pair of tomato clowns in my 55g fbh. no problems, no aggression between the two pairs. they even swim and feed side by side. they've been in my tank for about 5 months now. they were in a 125g for about 4 months but i moved to a smaller home and had to downsize. hth.

this is a hit or miss thing, this can go either way, one pair might just go after the other until they eliminate it or they can live with one another in harmony.

I probably won't do it then. I don't plan on putting anything in my tank unless it has a highly likely peaceful outcome. Thanks guys!!

I tried this in my 125. I had one [its mate died] I added three more. They all hung out for awhile, then after a few months the two medium sized ones started fighting ferociously!! One started hanging out in a top corner of the tank and anytime he tried to come out he was attacked. The last day, the one was trapped under a rock, scared to death to come out I set up a spare 30 gallon and removed 2. Everything has been fine since. I believe the two were fighting over the female. I am sure one would have ended up dead leaving three...then the third would have been killed next.

I wouldnt try it with 2 pairs of the same species, but if you get dissimilar species, they should be fine. Anemones that are big would probably help.


Girlfriend has a pair of true percs, and a pair of pink skunks in her 125, and theyre only about 18" apart from each other.
