2 part dosing question

I have a 6 month old 29G biocube with a few corals (finger leather, candy cane, neon green plate, torch, zoanthids, yellow and green star polyps) and i was recommended to use Kents coral supplements which is made for nano tanks. this was working fine dosing it daily manually but i was hoping to change to dose calcium and alk daily using dosing pumps from BRS. so here is my question. in order to calculate how much Ca and Alk to dose, i just tried the Red Sea test kit to find my current levels. i was surprised to find the calcium and alkalinity levels much higher than the recommended levels. my calcium level was around 480 and my alk was around 12. my mag level was lower than the recommended level of 1350 (1280). is it possible that using the Kents products have increased the levels too high and would waiting without using the Kents bring them back down to where i can start my 2 part dosing?

You can dose a number of brands... The idea is to dose what your system is using. SO If its too high then back off some.. Also you need to done a bit magnesium. But this does NOT Take much to get right .
Stop dosing.
Do a water change..
Test every other day for like 6 times and write the numbers down
Use those numbers to find your tanks consumption rate
Then dose to those numbers..
But remember to continue to check every day when you find your number for a few days. Then once a week after once you have it stable . Over time you may have to adjust this...
SO SHORT ANSWER IS Yes the brs kit will be good. But only once you have a Complete handle on what your tank needs and you are caution to not over dose...
Many people just add KALK TO There ATO Instead of dosing two part. For your tank i think this is the best solution.

It is certainly possible. I will assume you was not testing for the alk, calc, mag while dosing the Kent's. I would stop using the kent's and let the levels drop by themselves and settle this way you can get a baseline of where your levels normally are with just some water changes. You may not even need to add anything yet. Once you get the baseline levels then you can figure out if 2 part is the right option for you. Good luck just my 2 cents.

thanks for the info. i stopped the Kents dosing two days ago and i will do a water change or two and then check the levels again.

I would assume the levels have built up over period of time. Be careful dropping them to quickly, corals love stability.
