2 questions on the pvc pipe entering the sump

Ok, had to scrub off some of that nice purple primer off my hands to type. I am about to cut the pvc pipe piece that runs water into the sump.
1) How deep into the sump should the pipe's exit go? Does it matter?
2) I had thought to drill holes into the sides to allow more water to come out. Is this good or bad?

Thanks

Also if it matters... From the bulkhead I have a straight drop of 1.5 feet to the top of the first baffle no bends ect.

It doesn't really matter. The lower you can place it, the less splashing and salt creep you'll have. However, putting the pipe lower can create back-pressure in your drain line and limit your flow rate.

I had mine about 4" under the water level with some side holes.

Thanks for the answer theop. By the way wow I love that devils hand it is doing great!
Ok done with that plumbing :)
Next question... I have a piece of spa flex to incorporate. Can I use the same pvc cement to attach to regular schedule 40.

Ok here is a laugh for you. Either I'm and idiot or the primer fumes are getting to me (I will hope for the second)... I just glued on half a union without the collar.

Welps back to home depot I go again tomorrow. :(

Spa flex is PVC, so the same glue works. If you end up putting glue/primer on the flex pipe and something doesnt work out, dont re-use the already primed/glued section on the flex. You need to cut that section off. Flex doesnt bond well when trying to re-use.
