Classes start in 3 weeks (oh dear lord)!

FIRST
I'm not letting the kids touch a couple tanks, but they'll be taking care of some other tanks. During the first week, I want them to learn about 10 rules of tanks before they even get close. Can you help me think of about 10 things that could wipe out a tank that they could do by accident (yes, I know some one might do something intentional :mad2: but I'm talking about things people do without knowing better). Here are a couple.

1. Never stick hands in tank without a. tank gloves or b. having thoroughly cleaned hands.

2. Never use any chemical to clean the outside of the tanks, or anything near the tanks.

3. Do not clean buckets, bowls, nets or anything that goes in the tank with anything but clean water and designated fish towels/brushes.

What else?

SECOND:
I need help. I have these nice tanks that were donated. I also have some corals donated. The landscaping in the tank is awful. Some of the corals are not looking healthy (the stony ones). Is there anyone willing to come up and help me, or maybe I can take pics and tell you about lights and all and you tell me what I need to be doing and where these things would be better placed? I also don't know exactly what needs to be added. I have had so many donated supplements etc but I don't want to just start dosing!!

OR...I feel bad asking this, but if several people were willing to come up, help me put things together. I already have tanks and some equipment that I don't know how to use. And if we wanted to build anything, I can order from school several large sheets of acrylic and ask the shop teacher (who is beside my class and also loves aquariums) to come in on a Sat/Sun with us and we can build some sumps or tanks (I really want a shallow 200 gallon with a large fuge underneath for local critters we catch). I'm calling the newspaper about the big donated reef tank and other donations; I'd call them out that day if people were willing and I'd make sure you were well fed. PM me or post here if you are willing or have ideas. Probably be about the 2nd-3rd weekend in August (unless enough people could come here on 29th/30th of July.

thx...I'll try to get to school tomorrow and take pics of some of the equiptment I have at school.

How shallow of a tank are you thinking of? 72"Lx48"Wx14"T is about 200gal. Would have to ask in the DIY Forum for the cut list and thickness of acrylic.

I think another very important one is take your time and make sure everything is the way it should be before you go adding too much into a new tank

Thanks for the PM's. Maybe we can try to set up something next week? I also wanted you guys to see some of the things that were donated that I don't have a CLUE what is. I'm not sure if you can see it or not....anyways....I'm just putting this up here so to sort of keep you updated on where I am in case someone has some wonderful brainstorm.

Once I get all of this together...my next step is to get a grant for a GREENHOUSE :D !!
