20" 96w corallife heating tank?

coral acquisition

i set up a aga 10gal tank last week

i last night was the 2nd day i was running the 96w coralife and i noticed that the temp started rising. it was a matter of maybe .1 per 30 mins til it became 80.2 F

that morning i checked when i closed the light and it was still 80.2

i was wondering if it would make the water hotter than this.
i dont know if i also went too fast but i put alot of my live rock and live sand from my 60gal that's running for a year now. and placed my mushrooms and hammer and frogspawn in the tank.

i have a 96 x 2 in my 60 thats a jbj light. but im thinking that 96w on the 10gal might be too strong, the feather duster seemed like it got burned or something.

should i run the light in a shorter period of time until they get used to the strong light?

thanks

Doesn't seem like light would affect a feather duster. I have the 96Coralife over a 20cube but I also have a sump so it does run cooler. I run my tank at 80F. I used to go at 78F but during the hotter weather the temp would rise to 80 so now the corals don't have to adjust and I don't have to worry about trying to keep it down.
The light is OK, just noisy. I unhooked one of the fans and it is quieter. You might try mounting a PC fan at the edge of the tank that comes on when the light does. I used to have MH but my shrooms and zoas wouldn't grow much. Now with the 96wt they are spreading like mad.
I do have the flip-up legs and I think this raises the light up a bit higher than the standard add-ons so might run cooler.
I think if I was doing a 10gl I would go with the Orbit 2x40wt though and maybe with the pendant kit.
When I had the MH I also used an AC 70 and cut out the top lid to mount a small PC fan that would blow into it when the light came on. This kept the temps down.
