Next to a 30 gal.

As you can see the bottom is broken thus the 30 gal becomes a doner tank.

Glass-Holes over flow put in the tank was pretty easy with the kit

This little helper showed up when i was working!

Bottom off the doner tank!!

Here it is all cleaned up and ready for the new home

Taped up and ready for silicone

Dow silicone was used black this time

Back painted and trim painted black nex is to get the stand and redo it and fig out the lighting either MH or LED not sure yet but prob LED's

Looks good! I hope you know what you are doing! I would never feel comfortable about repairing something like that!

Everyone's DIY skills on here make me envious!

Maybe it's the picture, but the outside of the seams look kinda sketchy. Did you get silicone in between the panes of glass as you applied silicone?

What kind of light? 150w MH 250w MH or LED?

How many LEDs would be good for this size Its 20in wide by 16 in deep

I think 24 would be plenty. I haven't used LED's on a reef tank, yet. But, that's only because I don't have corals in my tank, yet. As far as aesthetics, I love mine. I feel very confident with them. Halides are nice, but often times, you deal with heat issues. When I switched to T5's, I missed the shimmer I had with halides, but I didn't miss the heat. Now, with LED's, I'm feeling like it's the best of both worlds. It's not the same shimmer as a halide, but it's still very nice. Hope that helps!

Not sure im leaning towards sps, zoo garden, or rics im just going to go slow for now and see what pops up at the local stores
