20 Gallon Build

if it's one of the little red guys they need some flow but not a lot, low-med. And mine almost all grow in the shade. I have about 1,000 of them in my 72, they even grow on the baffles in the sump. I have a nutrient rich system. LOL

its light in color

i think its one of the tanish light brownish ones
the LFS where i buy all mystuff has one in his tank, and ive found another one since ive posted this which makes a total of three, and im really very sure there all three feather dusters cause when i put my hand in the tank and get close to em they retract really quick and there "moving" with the flow

there in enough flow that they kinda make a "flow" motion, i dont
know hard to explain but u guys get the idea

Thought id post some pictures...........

well that stinks about my skimmer, well im pretty much screwed there

i havent gotten my green algea bloom yet but the brown is startn to slow down so probably in the next week or two im guessing ill see the green

what do u guys suggest about my seaclone (piece of poop) ive had nothin but problems with the dang thing

don't worry about the skimmer, if you don't put any DOC in you can't pull anything out.

Run another set of tests. I suspect that the nitrates are starting to climb which is a good thing.

got my first inhabitant today, its a coral banded shrimp
finally something i can see move with out staring at it for 5 mins lol
now im gonna start stockin up on hermit crabs

?= how many hermit crabs should i have in my 20 Gallon

I think about 1,100 will fill it up.

:-)

Seriously though. Start with 5 or se and expect to have around 15 or 20 by the time your tank is fully stocked. You won't have enough algae in the 20 to keep that many snails fed you.

You should read up on CBS. I believe they are prone to munching soft corals and zoanthids.

well that sucks
a coral eater huh................dang-it
well apart from that i have good news,
i came home tonight to find my skimmer had actually made a small amount of foam

Everything sounds great. If it were me I'd check out a nice zoanthid or mushroom rock while I was picking up the snails.

the LFS has a small rock with 2 or 3 mushrooms on it, ive been eyein it up ;)
but i think i may start traveling to get my stuff
the LFS here is kind of high
hermit crabs $5 a pop
Coral Banded Shrimp $50
Live Rock $10/Lb.
how do these prices sound to you guys? on target or out in left field?
i here theres a place in Fredrick MD, ("Ricks") that sells hermit crabs 5 for $10 and extra shells are $0.10, but thats about an hour from my home and my LOCAL fish store is 5 min.

Yikes, sounds a bit expensive. I'm lucky to live near San Francisco which does a lot of importation. Hermits and Coral Banded Shrimp are about half those prices here. Fiji rock is $8/pound but there are so many different quality levels that it's hard to compare. The Mushrooms rock sounds expensive but it's hard to tell since there are so many different mushrooms and some are certainly worth that much and more. If it's the simple green stripes then I'd have a hard time paying over $20.

Probably not too bad. You might want to check the corallimorph forum here on RC to see if the purples like light or shade. Sounds nice, I've always liked the purples that I've seen here and in the LFS. Maybe someday I'll do a 'shroom tank. and a zoa tank. and an aggressive tank. and a mantis tank, and another clown tank. and an acro tank. oh yeah, a nice big tang tank. Too many fun things to do!

lol, ur crazy
i like the mushrooms ive seen on here too
and now i get to look at em anytime i want, i went out today and got the mushrooms, it wasnt a bad deal i guess i got three small mushroom on a 1/2Lb LR for $30 and while i was out i stopped at the man store (lowes) and got a timer.
the mushrooms are aclimating now and here in 15 mins ill have em in the tank
ill try to get a pic of em tomorrow before i leave
im goin on vacation for two weeks so ill see you guys in two weeks :)

?= There was a post somewhere on Reef-Central, and ive been looking for it i think it was by melev or something but it broke everything down into categories (zoos, shrimp, clams, mushrooms ect.) and was really informative. if anyone knows where it can be found or has the link, let me know.
Thanks :)
