what do people use for flow in their sps dominated nanos(20-30gallons)it seemslike if you want a high turnover rate for sps.. you would need too many maxijets and it woudl take up too much space? any suggestions?
closed loop will definitely be your best solution. Not only will you have to have WAY too many powerheads in the tank for them to do any good, they are going to create so much heat that its going to cook your tank.
if drilling the tank is an option, i think that will be your best bet. you could get really great flow rates and have the pump external so no heat issues and no ugly powerheads in the tank.
I have a 20g now with a Seio 820 and a MJ900 with Hydor. They definitely take up a lot of room. It's give and take with a smaller tank. More power heads, less room for rock and coral, and vice versa.
you can put 2 maxijets 600 with the mod, and you will get tons of flow, i had a seio 820 in my tank and the maxi with the mod puts a lot more flow, just my .02c
I have a Seio 620 in one corner and a 1/2" Seaswirl with "y" fitting off of return from sump on a 20 gal long for about 50x turnover. The Seaswirl really isn't that noticable and provides good random flow.
