200 Gallon Reef Crystals 44.99 Shipped. ( :

Hey Mike- "guru of deals"- please find me something similar with DD H2O.

Best salt ive ever used. I has become extremely difficult to find at a reasonable price!!!!!

I am currently trying seachem :( (won it at a fmas raffle), and have tried Red Sea coral pro (acceptable). in the mean time RC is always a good option.

RSP is just as good Eddie, your just to hard headed to accept it.

Hurry up, I want that bucket when your done :)

i dont disagree Red sea Pro is good, and ive heard rumors that its the same as DD H20, but have not been able to confirm that, so in the mean time I prefer DD. That being said ive been using the Seachem cause it was $1 (raffle), and Instant Ocean RC, cause of the Rebate we got at MACNA. Im currently mixing the SC and RC, cause im not impressed with SC.

Once these are done i will go back to DD, preferably, or RSP depending on $$.

Eddie. Why use DD when RC is half the price and works perfect?

I tried Red Sea(not pro), I could not stand it. Never again

Low Ca, and Mg, and High Alk drives me nuts. not a good combo if you ask me. Convince me otherwise... I would love to do nothing but RC considering the price. .

lab analysis from beginning 2013.
A few params are:
Ca 575ppm
K 440ppm
Mg 1620 ppm
Sr 12ppm
B 5.31 ppm
Li 476 ppb
Zn 11.9 ppb
Si 171 ppb
Alk 13 dkh
Al 4.4 ppb
Cu 13.5 ppb
Ba 30.5 ppb

Found this on web. Give all the params a boost.

Honestly, Ever since i started doing bi-weekly changes with reef crystals. The tank has never looked better. I attribute most of my recent reef success to this salt.

Those are pretty good numbers indeed other than the high alk. Is this a reputable source you got this?

I guess with now daily waterchanges the high alk isn't as big a deal since they are very small daily changes.

Mike- I cant find those numbers you are stating. I looked on RC reef chemistry forum and got:

While IO RC has improved ( i know they recently reformulated), i cant find those numbers you mention.

BTW- to add another caveat to the conversation you realize the yield you get from IO and RC is based on a mixing schedule of 1.020 where as if you look at DD- H20 its at 35 ppt (1.025). So the yield and pricing is a bit different, a 200 gallon box might only give you 170 (just a number, not a calculation). What appears to be a good deal is not always the case. Im not planning on researching all the yield capacities of all the different salt brands but its a good idea for people to keep this in mind when comparing prices for salt.

Who keeps a reef at 1.020?

All that said- thanks for the link- its still a good deal!!!! :)

Eddie do you not go with nsw because of the lack of storage....I have found that is the best option fir sure cost wise and you know when it comes to gallons I prolly go threw more than most people on here in water changes ......

Matt- Yes storage is one reason, and of course you go through more water than most "standard" hobbyists for sure. You have a monster tank.

I go through approx 100 gal of SW, and 75 of fresh. Im sure if i did the calculations it would be cheaper to do NSW.

But i do have concerns over other variables that happen with NSW, ie the collection of it has many unknowns IMHO. Where, when, how was it filtered, if it sits around what happens with die off etc. Don think i havent considered it, but i like the control i have with everything being made in front of my eyes, LOL. Control freak.

Truth is, its sort of backfired on me. The 2 SPS meltdowns ive had in the last 4 years have been ro/DI related...:blown:

I like to think the proof is in the visual also that's why its hard to argue with marke's setup ....that and the cost convinced me it was the way to go ...

Marke and I have shared corals for years. He has had his ups and downs as well.
You saw my tank in the hay day. All salt and ro/di.

So....."which way did e go, which way did e go". I think that was a popular line from Bugs Bunny.
