200 gallon single 2” drain, how would you do it?

Got a 2nd hand tank and sump, 8x2x2 drilled in the bottom with a SINGLE 2inch drain and 4 3/4 returns. I have plumbed this thing about 6 times so far and can’t get anything to work right. I’m here for suggestions. The overflow is in the middle of the back wall with top weirs only. My best attempt was a 2inch durso going straight into 2 inch drain which had the overflow nice and quiet but I couldn’t get the sump quiet. I tried a reverse durso in the sump, stockman standpipe in overflow, multiple dc pumps in different flow rates. I would like to move some water but with durso it seems like it can’t keep up with the flow.

Someone plumb this tank for me!

So, the 2” Durso had the overflow quiet but, you weren’t happy with the noise from the sump? Can you elaborate? Water going into a sump is going to make some noise. Are you using filter socks?

Drill another hole? I think that is the only option. Thick glass is easy to drill. My tank that size has 4 drains fed by 2x2" bulkheads.
I would still make sure the glass isnt tempered first.

Should have mentioned it’s an acrylic tank, and yea it’s 240 I rounded down haha.

Griss- With the durso, the over flow was nice and quiet but it couldn’t keep up with any flow. The tank would almost overflow out of the top. The drain was a complete waterfall crashing into the filter socks. I tried one single drain, splitting it into 2 drains, running a reverse durso into the filter sock, nothing really changed the waterfall. It’s loud enough to hear it on the other side of the house.

Gotcha, with internal overflows, I’ve only ever used Durso standpipes, so I don’t have any experience with anything else.

How much turnover are you trying to create?

It sounds like the sump noise is from too much flow through 1 overflow pipe and another standpipe like @wvned suggested might be the cure. Being acrylic, it shouldn’t be as difficult as glass.
