I would like to maintain a list of sponsors and their donations to the club. I guess keeping the list online in public view may not be the best idea?
Can we at least list all of our sponsors here?
Current sponsors I am sure of:

Premium Aquatics
The Frazier Zoo
Big Als
Sea Treasures
Fraggle Reef

Any Others?

OKee Dokee--- did they donate anything for our swap? if so, I will add them to the swap sponsors sheet...

I think Jay was heading up that aspect...no?
Been away just got back late last night.
I wll be working on this starting this weekend.:)

I just want to make sure once we get all the sponsors we give them buisness.

I will be working on Reefgeek,Dr Mac, TFP, Champion,Hello Lights. I think that should be good for next week.

We must make sure we do not ask for too much from them all at once. We need to be loyal to our sponsors. Once we get big and powerfull as a club they will be looking for us.

FYI I am trying to meet with Reef Geek next week:) I pmed him my contact info

Thanks for the tip Ribs

Woohoo

You make a good point...the whole club/sponsor relationship is so we both can support each other...we must keep that in mind

yes, exactly. Everytime you buy, you should write in the comments section that your from DVRC, and thanx etc....
(i just placed a big order w/ champion!)

Did they give a discount???

I just spent over $2000 with Champion. Nice guys. I bought an Outer Orbit Pro 72" with 3x250w HQI and 8x 39w T5 actinics, plus a BlueLine HD70 and 2 Vortechs with wireless controllers...

Never mentioned that I was part of DVRC.

But, I got to tell you, you save a lot just by going there to pick stuff up... no shipping costs!!!

How does one convince significant other that $2k single purchases may be what's required for the fishtank?
I do not have that down pat yet.

Give her a choice.
Would she rather you drink??? Have a "friend" on the side:D or just a kool hobby.
Worse scenerio just google wood chipper and rent fargo for her to watch

I have given this advice in that past and it works:smokin:

no. I didnt mention DVRC. I ordered before you contacted them.. Thats ok, I was buying the stuff from them, discount or not.

I have worked this out using many methods and all combined, they made her understand...

1. Use what Jay said. I keep telling her that it is a decent hobby because it keeps me home and is educational for the kids. I saw would you rather I went golfing every Saturday for 6 hours plus? Or had Thursday poker nights? Those would add up too. I could also make my hobby playing video games which would be cheaper but doesn't involve the family...

2. I sold a lot of gear from my old hobby (home theater video on demand throughout the house, etc) on eBay over the last 6 months to help subsidize the tank purchase.

3. I quit smoking in exchange for the tank...

4. I don't get into the details of every expense. She knows that the tank was used and cheap and a compromise and knows that some of it had to be upgraded, but that I was selling off other pieces to make up some of the difference...

This is pretty much the same for me. I sold off other (previous) hobby stuff (RC boats and rare OOP model rockets) to pay for my newest addiction. It takes a while, but in the end, I think most "significant others" like the tanks, and realize a certain amount of money needs to be spent to keep it alive. My wife knows and understands better, that if we do not keep adding money to the tank, the whole thing would crash, and that would cost a lot more than a bucket of salt or a powerhead...

Yeah, Marlene gets more frustrated with the amount of time I spend with the tank (ignoring the family). But, I get phone calls when I am out of town about what fish did what or how cool something was... so I know she is growing to like it...
