For some people, like everything else, its all about bragging rights.
I got a 25pgd unit off of eBay for $85, 3 stage plus RO and a DI disposable cart.
Look around eBay and you should be able to find something for around that price, and if you want you can always add a final DI cannister from buckeyefieldsupply.com for $20 or so and probably run for at least a year with a nano. I do ligher w/c's on a 29 and have gotten more than a year from 1 DI charge.
My cheapo, non-brand name unit gets water down to 4-5ppm for RO, and 0 after the DI.
