2015 CTARS BOD Nominations

The Board is nominating the following people:

President "“ Chris Messier (Chriskid). Chris is coming up on his eighth year of membership and eleventh year in hardcore reef keeping. He is currently the President of our club. If given the chance he will take the position again this year. This year he has a new webpage, had the bylaws re-written, moved the meetings around the state and changed the dates around as requested by the members, opened up new opportunities for the club financially, brought some different speakers and trips to the club and more. He is active on the boards and in the reef keeping community. He is looking forward to bringing more to the club next year!

Vice President "“ Jason Clark (Vaiodude). Jason and his wife can be seen at nearly every club meeting and event that CTARS holds. He is a very active CTARS member as well as on the forums. He is looking forward to bringing new ideas to the club and working with the members this coming year!

Secretary "“ Melissa Messier (munchie1976). Melissa is currently the secretary of our club. If given the chance she will take the position again this year. She has been working very hard on the webpage, the CMAC pages, as well as the Facebook and Google+ pages along with her secretarial duties this year.

Treasurer "“ Jeff is unfortunately stepping down from the position as well as CTARS after many long years to seek out endeavors with his other club as well as new adventures in life. We wish him the best of luck and will miss him greatly! In the meantime, we are currently speaking with a member of the club about this position. Once we sure they are willing to accept, we will announce our nomination decision.

I am going to ask that everyone please keep this thread to nominations only.

We have no jurisdiction here to mod this thread and we do not want this to get locked or deleted. Anyone's arguments are only going to hurt the club and I know all of you are only trying to help it...

Thanks!!! :)

2015 CTARS BOD Nominations

I accept the nomination for Vice President. I have enjoyed the last two years getting to know folks in the club and participating in club meetings and events. I think is great to be a part of a group of people that share such a passion for the reefing hobby and would like to if given the chance become more involved. Thank you for the nomination.

I second these nominations.

Phew. All of a sudden rain in Roatan doesn't seem to be that big of a deal.

My vote goes for Chris for President. For as long as I have been in the hobby and in the club, this guy has put in more hours than probably the five preceeding presidents including myself. This club eats volunteers like lionfish eat reef inhabitants. Really sad to see.

Myself, I got some lobster to eat and more sea turtles and rays in store tomorrow. Perhaps some would consider a lens on having more in the water besides hands? Chris did that with the project o trip....maybe we could foster some interest in scuba so folks would know what reefs really look like.

Chris has been so busy with his Firebird and baby clowns that I don't even know if he had a chance to see this today although, I know he would certainly appreciate your kind words.....

If anyone even understood the hours he has put in....

Thank you :)

;) you mean the crazy hours you both have put In to change the club a full 180 not only doing what you said you would but going above and beyond thank you so much for all you have done

I'm not a member of this club, therefore what I'm going to say shouldn't matter. In my opinion, I believe the current BOD should give a list of the nominees. The nominees should be members who have been active with Ctars for a long time, years wise. Why? Because they were able to witness errors that happened with previous bods and with the club itself and they could evade those problems and improve the club. Just my opinion.

Another thank you...it's truly an honor to be so appreciated by the members :)

We did our best to do what everyone asked of us this year. Although everything didn't work out due to some participation issues, we still feel that it was such an awesome year and even bigger and better things are yet to come to CTARS! Especially with this years CMAC...the Board and the PR this year worked soooo hard to put together a great event and I assure you that it will be!

I've been in this club for 2 years but I won't be renewing my dues, too much drama. Not even off the first page of nominations and it starts already.

I will continue to support my local LFS and buying/selling with members locally on this forum as well as the many friends I have made on and off the boards in this hobby. We have SO many great people who do SO much for each other constantly, the drama fighting and nonsense is just so childish. Our board members put in SO much time into making this hobby fun for everyone, we should all embrace this.

That being said, I have a great grasp on the board ongoings and the works of Chris and Melissa through my roommate Kris. As I current paying member I back the nomination of both.

While you have that popcorn I think you would make a great treasurer

Sounds like a great gig, but I had my year and a half stint in the BOD. It was a lot of fun and I really loved helping the members and being apart of it all, but there was just too much distance in the ways of thinking and how situations were handled.

That's true, Mike should run for something having all that time on his hands because he doesn't have a tank. I nominate Mike, to get a tank again! lol

Don't you worry sir, I will have one again. We just got into the new house so we've been putting all of our efforts into that. There are a few ideas in the works. I will probably have you and Bob over for a few  to talk about it. Until then i'll enjoy seeing other peoples builds and stopping in to get my dose of reefing.

I would like to nominate Chriskid for President, Winfrey for VP AND Munchie1976 as secretary. I also think Mike should become treasurer. We need him in a position

The club has had some good events this year, things like CMAC are back, the website has been redone, the social networking area like Google + are very well maintained and up to date overall I would consider this a good year for the club.

Yes there were some things that should not of happened but at the end of the year the positives out weighed the negatives.

Note:
There were some comments made earlier about a person ( been deleted) and not being in good standing or something like that.

Our bylaws state that a member in "good" standing can be elected so if your not in good standing then I take this as you are not entitled to run for a position.

So it is up to the BOD to decide if a candidate is eligible

I agree with Blitzie. I've been a member for only a few years but the improvements that I have witnessed over the past 10 months compared to previous years has been substantial. I would expect based on past performance that the future will only get better. Sure, mistakes were made, but the the passion and accomplisments these people brought to the table certainly outweigh the mistakes and as all good people do, they will learn from those mistakes.

It's also comforting to know that there are several other people who would like to get more involved with the operations of the club. I would suggest that there should be two non-voting members on the BOD. This would accomplish two things. The first would be additional input to the thoughts and ideas that are bing discussed. Secondly this would give future candidates insight on the workings of the BOD and they would be better prepared if and when they chose to run for a voting position on the board.

I personally think it would be nice if we could all have a group discussion here with the candidates. Where the candidates could give us a good clear idea of what their plans and aspirations are relating to the position they are going for. Also think we as a club can ask the candidates questions about their plans.
We CAN do this civilly without confrontation. This is a hobby we all enjoy. No need for mud slinging.

With that said, I would like to nominate Ron (suicideissleep) for the position of Vice President. This is a guy who has gone up and beyond for the club and our members.

Good Point Jas, I second your post and I also second Ron's nomination.
