20g Nano Lighting

I have a 20g nano that has been running for about 4 months. I have 4 24" VHOs suspended in a hood from the ceiling for lighting. The hood is about 6" from the surface. I have a couple SPS (monti cap, yellow pocillopora, and millepora). They are all growing fairly well under the VHO. I am thinking of upgrading my lighting to MH plus the actinic VHO.
Is it better for me to get 250w, raise the hood, and run a fan? I will be running at 20w per gallon. Is this too much light for a small tank. So long as heat isn't a problem, and I acclimate the corals to the light intensity, would the penetration from the 250w be better?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Well, you could do that but imo it would be better to get a 150w 10k mh and supplement with atinics. But do you have any other corals in the tank? 250w may bleach the sps but would def. do a number on any softies and zoo's
