my local lfs shop told me that i all needed to keep some polyps and maybe some mushrooms on a 20l would be a 2x24w t5ho fixture. never kept corals before and everywhere i go online is giving me conflicting information, so if someone could shed some light on the subject i would be very appreciated.

A 2 bulb fixture should be fine while you learn beginner corals and later on if you decide to try anemones or SPS, upgrade the lighting. You can keep the light you have now and be fine.

+1. I had a 20l and upgraded to a 29gallon once I learned from all of my mistakes. I also went from a 2x fixture to a 4x fixture.

is there any good beginner corals that you could recommend

Zoas, palythoas, mushrooms, leathers.

I would stay away from xenia, anthelia or GSP, unless you want you tank covered in those lol

appreciate the input ive been doing countless hours of research but it seems like i keep getting conflicting stories, which i know goes back to the "every tank is not the same" concept. i think i want to start with a type of zoanthid and go from there.
