Yes definatley more rock, before adding anything more on the bio load,
I want to say the big piece of LR is 12-13 lbs and the other is like 5 or 6 lbs so maybe another 30 lbs,
I have a bunch of dry rock I can add.
Definatley want some coral.
I want to get a anemone first.
I'm not sure about fish yet, possibly hippo tang.
I need a ro/di unit before i goto coral though. Right now Im using tap with a conditioner.

You're definitely not going to want to add a tang in this tank, ever. You're also not going to want to put in an anemone until the tank matures.

Yes Im aware of the anemone and tank being mature, thats down the road. Even a small tang like the size of a quarter? It wouldnt be permenant i have a 75 g i wanted to set up in the next year, just need a light for it.

congrats on the new tank, I would however skip putting a tang into the 46 gal, wait till after you upgrade then pick a tang the will fit better in the 75 gal. a hippo tang will get way to big even for the 75 gal even if you do buy a very small one. they need at least a 6' long tank.

you said your clowns were 3.5", the pic makes them look much smaller than that though, but either way here are a couple ideas on how to encourage clowns to spawn.

1. increase lighting from 12 hours a day to 14 hours, if after 2 months no spawn then go back to 12 hours a day.

2. increase water temp to 80 degress

3. lower sg to around 1.020 slowly

4. feed live adult brine shrimp twice a week

5. add more water movement with another small powerhead

again stability is key, get a auto fish feeder and feed 4 times a day, or 3 times a day with dry foods and once a day with frozen, try to keep the feedings at the same time per day.

use an ATO to keep sg consistant

use a temp controller to keep the temp stable.

I would also add at least another 30lbs of cured live of dry rock to the tank, sooner rather than later as you wanna keep your hands out of the tank as much as possable, you want the clowns to feel very comfortable. in time you will have more eggs than you will know what to do with, good luck

BTW here is a crappy video of one of my eariler batches

Haha nice video there are so many!
Definatley adding more live rock,
Yes i know the pictures are bad,
they look smaller to me in the 46bowfront,
But i measured them the other night i have to find the picture, im using my cell phone for pic.s

Nothing new with the tank,
Clowns are still eating heavily, one smaller than the other,
and doing the siezure thing.
Im feeding prime flakes, frieze dried, mysis, and blood worms.
Nothing yet, but i also just switch tanks so this is to be expected.

Never had an arrow crab so i cant say anything about them other than they look cool.

A big cuc all depends on how much extra algae there is for them to eat. To big and unless you feed extra they will starve, to little and your algae will start to out grow how fast they can eat it. Just go slow and find a happy medium.

I actually like pics and videos so keep them up

I should say if you stick to peaceful fish like blennies, gobies, cardianls, ect youll be fine. That wont stop your clowns from breeding

Awsome t.y. you have been following for awhile.
Now rotifiers are they absolutley required with clown fry or can they eat fresh hatched brine also?
Im over feeding to try to get them to breed. Theyre right at 2.5 inch male little larger on the female. So It just around that time. Still waiting. I feed them prime reef flake, frozen mysis, meal worms freeze dried, blood worms, brine shrimp, mysis.
Wet skimming
salinitys 1.022-3
Nothing shows up on
Ammonia,nitrites, nitrates,
ph 7.9-8.1 been adding purple up with no purple
Weekly water changes
substrate maintnence
No ones died but no ones procreated either :(:hammer:

Sounds like everything is going good, now just a waiting game. I would stop useing the purple up and just keep an eye one your cal, alk and mag levels, once those are in check and stable your purple will come as long as you added a little coraline before weather it came from a snail shell, hermit crab shell or frag plug.

Rotifers are a must for clownfish fry, baby brine shrimp are to big for them to eat. A good place to get rotifers and rotifer food is from apbreed.com or reed mariculture. But i wouldnt worry about the rotifers yet until they start laying, you will want to let the first few hatches go until they get the hang of laying eggs and takeing care of them.

Right now its just a waiting game which sucks but all part of the process.

Yeah they will hatch but are very fragile and everytime they lay a new set of eggs they get better at careing for them and there is more eggs each time

FWIW I once had an arrow crab that got H.U.G.E and the thing was a holy terror.

It was like one of them tripod things from "war of the worlds", walking around and nuking everything in sight. Nothing was safe from that monstrosity.

They are cool looking, but I wouldn't get another one. Would probably be fine if it was a small one, or something close to a normal size.
