210 gallon Tank Frames

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I recently acquired a 210 gallon tank setup. problem is the guy left it outside and the frames cracked in the cold. i've checked all the sites that were recommended on these forums, but can't seem to find any one of them that carries a 72" x 24" frame. And i need to replace both. Does anyone know where i can get large ones specifically? I looked for the manufacturer, but didn't see one on the tank.

Of course, the other option is eurobracing, but not sure how to go about the bottom of it (which im sure is more important).

Once i get it braced, then I can check the rest of the tank for any other damage as it was in the cold for a few days (around 4 degrees on a few nights). anything else i should look out for?

i have a 210 as well. My top frame cracked or broke in half, I was never able to find a replacement. If it is top frame, you could just use 1/4" thick acrylic and use IPS weld-on #16 acrylic plexiglass glue adhesive to glue it on. I have 5 of these pieces on my top brace since the two supporting brace broke.

Have you tried a lfs? No they won't have them on a shelf, but if they carry the same manufacturer they may be able to call and have one delivered during their next shipment (for best price) or mail one to you (probably have to bite the shipping cost which at that size will be noticeable). Mom& pop stores are better for this as larger chains may only be able to get stuff from their main warehouse. Anyway check around.

Another way is to poke around on custom tank builders in your area. Some may not necessarily list it on their web page, but again doesn't mean they couldn't special order it.


As for other damage to look for: cracks in the glass and make sure the seems are bonded.

IMO tank is garbage.
Just cold weather should not crack a frame.. BUT if water got into it and froze you could have much more serious issues that just the plastic trim being cracked.. The joints might be bad which could lead to 210 gallons of water on the floor.

I checked my lfs already, they only had 18" wides. Said they could order them, but they wanted $160 each for them. Checking some of the custom builders may be a way to go. Thanks for that suggestion.

As far as the seems and joints, there's no really good way to tell, is there? I was planning on filling it with a hose (after bracing it) when it warms up outside and seeing if it holds well, but i guess that won't tell me much except for catastrophic failures.

I'd hate to lose a 210g tank, but i'd hate more to lose it after it's set up! Anything else that i can do to ensure this will work?

I would reseal it. There are several threads here on how to do it.

You could also take it to a local glass shop and have them rework all the seams and make your bracing at the same time. Probably cheaper than what they are quoting you to buy new bracing.

I was hunting for a 60" frame last year and found it easier to email the manufactures for a quote As I did not find too many that sold any frames past 48 inches but just ended up getting a new tank as the cost of the frames and shipping was half the price

Sorry to resurrect this, but i finally got my tank straight and tested for the past 3 months with no issues. Thanks for the advice.

A new question, though. The tank used to be used for turtles. There is a shelf about 3/4 of the way up and about 18' long on one side. It's also under the overflow. The only issue i could see would be flow. But, could i correct that with a powerhead under the shelf? I could probably take it out, if there's no reason to, it may be a cool feature.
