55 gallon tank can be drilled?

Hello group, good afternoon. I have a question. I purchased a 55-gallon Petco tank, specifically this one. Has anyone on the forum made holes in this tank by any chance? I've found information where some say they can be drilled, and others say otherwise.

I am sure of one thing, and that is that the glass on the base is tempered, but the other glasses do not have any legend like the one on the base.

Most tank manufacturers use tempered glass on the bottom for sure. Front/back/side panels vary from manufacture to manufacture and availability.

Here’s a method to determine if they’re tempered. Look at an LCD screen through the glass while wearing polarized sunglasses. If you see dark streaks or a strain pattern, the glass is tempered, whereas a complete blackout indicates it's not tempered.

Tempered glass also has smoother, rounded edges compared to the sharp edges of untempered glass

as stated already. Test for yourself. You should do it for any tank you intend to drill anyway. One of my 55 gallons was an old one I had 20 years and the other was only a few years old and from Petco.

i seen a video by that daku aquatics guy drilling holes in 10 gallon tanks he kept a steadystream. of water on the glass and bit used also braced the glass being drilledi forget but i think he just allowed the weight of the cordless drill to apply the pressure i think he used diamond hole cutting bitsout of ten tanks 2 busted i think but it was a long process to drill out the holes. its not much hope it helps no idea if the glass was tempered or not
