Well I got new pre filters and was talking to Steve at corner reef mentioned I had a whole house water softener and was making water behind it if that caused the ro/di to fail sooner. He said it was bad to make water after so I am trying a different way and it is leaking maybe some of the plumbing experts can help figure this out. I'm hoping teflon tape helps I will post a pic from my phone on tapatalk
This is the only place I can get water before the softener. So I bought the barbed fitting at home depot but it leaks I would try teflon tape if I had some any other suggestions

I am not sure what size thread is in the ball valve you have on the wall but what you need is a MPT(Male pipe thread) to MHT (Male hose thread) fitting. You can find them at lowes, home depot or amazon. This is what the thread should read depending on who makes it. I am assuming that your ball valve is 3/4" thread size. This may be different.
3/4" MPT x 3/4" MHT it may also be abbreviated like this
3/4" NPT x 3/4" GHT or a combination
This will allow you to use the garden hose adapter right on the ball valve with this fitting between them. Use Teflon tape on the threads and do not over tighten.
MPT=male pipe thread
MHT=male hose thread
NPT=nation pipe thread
GHT=garden hose thread
isn't thread matching fun. Just to throw more confusion into the mix
NPTT=nation pipe tapered thread
NPPT=nation pipe parallel thread
These are just north American threads then you get into metric threads
BSPP
MIP
G
Just to name a few of the more common ones.
Thanks but I did exactly that this morning. I don't know the technical terms but asked for 3/4 pipe thread and 3/4" garden hose and got the professional grade teflon at first I didn't tighten enough then I tightened more and no leaks. Also switched out the prefilter,carbon block and new di resin. So hopefully changing out before softener and new filters, keeping phosphates down all my issues will be resolved....till the next problem
