Been Reefin'
Well got the tank today and thought what the heck might as well start a log so I can keep up with pics etc.

220g Perfecto Cornerflo on Oceanic cherry oak stand.

It will be lit by 2 400w halides in LumenMax 2 pendants. Skimmed by an ER CS8-3. 75g Fuge, 20g sump (for the skimmer) also plumbed with a 35g frag tank. The return will be a Iwaki 70rlt on penductors. 3/8" starboard on the bottom and quite a bit of rock. Calcium will be maintained by a MRC-1. Tank will be controlled with the existing AquaController II. List goes on, but for now here are some pics.

Kyle

keep everyone updated!

theres more then one way to keep a healty reeftank!!! and IMO if one isint willing to glean all the info they can from the diffrent methods out there .......there just set in there ways and not going to or trying to learn a thing.......like no it must be done like this or that!!!!!!

Oh I will definitely keep this thing updated. I always seem to stray from my tank logs etc., but I need to keep it up to date.

Im like you if you want to do certain things than do it, no hair off my a$$. Like you trying the BB it wasn't for you and you changed it back...what was the harm in that?

I will be doing this my way for sure!!!

Kyle
its all in the quest of learning! .....i know im never too old! and am always up for TRYING to learn a little more with reefkeeping

i just kept it too clean is what i learned.....now ive got my DSB (dirty sand bed) helping me out.....tick tick tick!

charlie

BB or not, I still look forward to your thread updates. Keep coming with the pics! And CONGRATS!!! on the great big tank. I am jealous in many ways.... :)

The harm? ...just the loss of about 80% of his beautiful corals!
hehhe

Sorry Charlie, I had to do it. :)

LOL....Russ....i didnt loose that many.....maybe 25% the rest just faded out.....like i said i just kept it too clean i couldnt let the detritus sit

they have since colored back up with the new sand bed......but with the sand bed im just storing nurtients......

IMO theres a fine line as to how much nutrients the acroporas want//need....too much = brown corals to little = pale acros

charlie

I think you got it backwards...he lost 80% when his DSB crashed...

I didn't know you lost any though during the bb. I thought you added some sand before it got that far...

Without getting too deeply into it, there are LOTS of variables that are a part of tanks crashing. Solely attributing it to a DSB is not realistic. Also, even if the problem IS identifiable as a DSB problem, there are many issues that can lead to that (low flow, and more, etc).

My goodness I can't just start a damn thread with all you damn babies nit pickin' everything I say. I get so tired of this on our board it's rediculous... So your right, ok well your the know it all get over it... I'll get this sob closed and start a real Tank log...
