So i started out in this hobby about 6 years ago. i thought my 72bowfront would be my last upgrade. I have had this tank for about 4 years now. We bought our home two years ago and i have been thinking of a 7-8 foot tank to possibly begin.

i have been telling my wife about 6 feget or bigger she wasnt so thrilled at first but BEHOLD i just scored a 235 all glass tank. the glass is about 1'' thick the dimensions are 7ftx18''x36".

Local guy was moving and needed it out of his house. I scooped it up for ONLY $75 wow:dance:. it weighed about 800-900lbs. My wifes lexus truck helped me bring it home.

Any now this is the beginning on my new 235 reef tank. I have been researching many build of large reef builds and diy project. cant wait to start pics on the way

I plan on:
i would like to be able to have a 5 chamber sump (filter sock/frag or fish acclamation/skimmer/fuge already have alot of cheato will have mangrove seed pods they are easy to find in florida coast/return)
Making a 2x6 wood stand with extra bracing
pvc aquascape zip ties and epoxy
Closed loop system. i have three holes which would be for the drain and i plan on getting all the return pipes throughout the tank to minimize detritus from building up
I am contemplating bare bottom i plan on having an array of only peaceful fish so need to stay clean if i plan on keeping acros as well

I already have:
the skimmer a euroreef not sure what model with a ehiem pump i believe its rated for up to 300gallon\ will go bigger in the
8 bulb t5 ati brand new bulbs

So i have seen many builds but cant track them down. Does anyone have a good link to a diy wood stand i plan on starting next week if possible looking for ideas.

this tank is inspiring me to do a few thing similar on my build. the frame work looks great.

what is ur experience with tanks laying on top of a flat wood panel surface or on just beams

just a heads up I'm pretty sure it's illegal to take anything having to do with mangroves from the FL coast. If you were planning on buying them then my mistake.

I am sorry i meant to say that i have florida pod sead that i bought already have them i tried to edit it. They are about ten so far in the system

so here is a pics of the glass aquarium i put a can of lysol to see the scale of the tank

so finally have my stand ready using 2x6

So thought i thought that this tank was a nice tank. I have just really looked at the glass and found out that the tank is not only sapphire glass but it also is 3/4" thick :.) the dimensions are 84x18x36 not sure how much that would cost to make but i but its heavy. Cant wait to put it up.

the stand is finished as far as bracing and support.
i have these few pics of the stand
(SORRY FOR THE PICS NOT THE BEST BUT U GET THE IDEA)

looking for advice or maybe a thread were someone took the stand and added on crown molding cabinets and thin layer of wood to stain with a varnish or lacquer or any thoughts. the stand came with the tank and was already sealed with a with epoxy to prevent moisture from deteriorating the wood in the future if it shall get wet
