24" Cube

Hi Tim & Everyone Else,

Just wondering if you think 2x MP40's would be too much for a 24" cube.

I know the saying goes that you can never have enough flow.. ;)

But I do run a SSB, I think the benefit of having two is I can run them both at lower speeds hopefully not disturbing the SSB much, wheras just running 1 I would have to have it turned up a decent amount to get the flow.

Im aiming for a SPS reef..

Cheers

I have a 24" cube myself, I borrowed a MP40 from my friend and tried in my tank. There are sand storm everywhere with only set to 75% power, so I think 2 MP40 is overkill unless you have bare bottom. I do have sugar fine sand that is about 3".

I'm getting one MP20 first and see how it goes but encountered a minor technical difficuility with the power supply. I may add another MP20 later.

I would say two would definitely be overkill. We use 24x24x18" tanks to demonstrate our waves during trade shows and you've probably seen how big those waves can get. I'd recommend one MP40w or even an MP20. The MP20 will have a tougher time making waves on that size tank but otherwise the flow should be pretty good.
