I am looking to get into a Nano setup and this was one of the tanks I was looking at.

What other kind of equpitment might I need along with the package? Any extra filtration.

How much sand and rock should I put in it?

Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

Is there a better aquarium system?

I thought of a clown and a couple of goby's for stock.

Not sure what corals I can keep in it?

depends on what the lighting fixture you want. if you want the stock pc's, then you can have some soft corals, zoos/shrooms. if you want the upgrade which is the sunpod 150 HQI then you can have any kind of corals you want. people like to upgrade the stock pump to the maxijet pump.

Hey Bunker,

Usually a MJ900. It's rated for less flow than the stock pump but puts out a lot less heat. I'm waiting for my tank and sunpod to arrive as I write this. I'm going to add at least one more (maybe two) 900's behind the wall for a closed loop.

Bunker,
I put an MJ1200 in my AP24 and the flow is ok. It would be better with two mj900's. You would have to drill but if you have the tools it shouldn't be too bad. You would have to remove the bio balls and ceramic also. I also bought some purigen and floss and removed the sponges. Well I kept half of one sponge in there. My tank can sometimes get hot so I have a stand up fan blowing on it to keep the temp down.

Here's a pic of a AP 24 w/ a MH 150w 14k HQI on it.

I had heat issues as well, but the fan I keep on it keeps it at 78-80 w/o problems.

So yeah, I threw out the stock lighting, and I also put in the MJ900. I removed the bio balls, still have the ceramic in there (I don't know why... just never heard about removing them as I don't know what they do) and leave 1 sponge in there and rotate them weekly w/ water changes (5 gallons every other week).

If you've seen my posts before, you must think I'm a Rio rep. But, I'm not. Just a fan of the the Rio 6HF water pump. 350 gph at only 15 watts and it plugs in with no mods at all

What did you replace the stock lighting with?

If you look at the picture, behind the SUNPOD is the stock lighting (it's the lid which is not removed. You can see the 1 of the 32 watt bulbs in it. The lid is completely open in the pic.

It's just what mine came w/ stock. I think they are now offering the 75 or maybe even the 150 w/ the Aquapod (same thing happen w/ my Jeep. I buy a Jeep and have air lockers installed, and next year they come out w/ the Rucibcon :mixed: )

Anyway, the thing on arches is what replaced my stock lighting. It's very good upgrade for my little tank :)

I have the 24G AP with CF lighting and am keeping LPS quite successfully. I have frogspawn, candycane and Galxea and all are doing great and growing fast.

As for mods, I replaced the stock pump, replacing it with a MJ900. I added a hydor on that outlet. I then drilled in the other chamber and added another MJ900 the took it out into the tank using locline in a Y shape. Has been great so far.
