240g Budget Build

Hello all!

I got the 240g RR tank from fishfeeder yesterday. That was a fun trip. I got to meet fishfeeder and his wife, and Stephish(I think). It was a fairly uneventful trip until the way home.

Every time I go out of town to get a big tank something crazy happens. I went to Arab about a year and a half ago to pick up a 160g. On the way there I had a a wreck with the person I was following. On the way back my truck decided that it didn't want to run anymore and it blew a head gasket. I had to get towed back to Muscle Shoals from Lucy Springs.

This time I almost got home. Until, in Athens, one of the tires on my trailer decided that it didn't want to hold air...while I was going 65mph down Hwy 72. That was fun. I had to wait at the VERY nice gas station in athens for 2 hrs for my dad to bring a spare to the trailer. Nothing was hurt or lost thank goodness. I got home at 11:00pm.

Anyway, I have decided to keep this tank for a nice display/prop tank. I have to reseal the bottom, but other than that it is a very nice tank.

The dementions are 96"L x 24"H x 24"W, and it has a 75g sump. It has two 2" drains in each corner and a return in the middle. I plan on going with mainly with zoa's and shrooms.

I don't have a big enough bank account to go rush out and buy the newest and best equipment. So I'm gunna do a budget build. But for right now it is going to have to sit dry until I get moved down to Jacksonville. But that will give me some time to procure some used equipment, reseal the bottom, and plan this thing out right.

I'll post a few pics of the move tomorrow. I don't have the usb cable to hook my camera to my puter with me.

Thanks fishfeeder!!!

Man what a sweet tank. I wasn't brave enough to try to resealing the bottom on it. That stand and canopy was beautiful too. Good luck with the repair and build.

This is the 240 with the canopy and front facia taken off. Exposing the stand frame and 75g sump.

Loaded up on the trailer. It only took 4 people to move it.

Every thing loaded up, wraped, tied down and ready to go.

This is the trailer tire that busted on the way home. That mode for a fun trip!

nope it didnt...hehe...

BTW, I would like to thank the Florence Petco for the use of a few of their boxes, They came in handy for wraping and providing padding for the tank!

I can't wait to see this tank setup...I always enjoying seeing a tank like mine or in this case, one that I had, setup differently. Always makes me think..."why didn't I do that!" Anyways, keep me post with and email or PM as I'm sure when all my stuff is gone, I will be scarce for a while...until the fever hits again!!! (Don't tell my wife!)

Good Luck!
