24g NC Cracked

My 24g NC tank is new. No rock etc against the glass. I have been watching the tank cycle and saw an irregularity in the glass on the upper right side. Turnes out to be a small 1/2 inch crack that does not appear to be all the way through (I hope). My LFS replaced the tank no questions asked. Now to rip everything down and start over....ahhhhhhhhh

I love the look of the tank and do not want to go to another brand. I have convinced the Boss that we need two tanks in the house just in case this ever happens again. We are going to move the nano to the bedroom and put in a 120g in the livingroom. Good deal all the way around. Now I can set up the nano as my specialty tank.

Any advise on the easiest way to move everything would be greatly apriciated. Because its a new tank I don't have to contend with livestock.

go to walmart and get some rubber maid container. clean w/lite bleach and water. rinse well.
welcome to the world of saltwater. get used to it, or at least try to anticipate it.

Just a heads up NC have a track record of cracking. The glass isn't thick enough IMO.

I can see the wisdom in getting a 120 gal just in case that 24 gal NC ever starts to leak! I'm thinking a 300 gal might be nice just in case that 120 springs a leak!

once you start getting into the larger 100+ gallons... its a whole new ball game

I would almost rather stay with my nano. The 120 will be a house project where the nano will be my tank. I am more interested right now in seeing what I can create in the 24g space. Somehow it seems more manageable. I am so in awe of some of the tanks you all have created.

My gut is that the 120 will initially be more of a "reef safe" fish tank with live rock in prep for corals where the nano will be the specialty tank. This is all new to me so we'll see as we go. This is all learning curve for me.

jjmg - I'll have to see how the 300g will go over. You may have a point. safety, safety, safety lol

The 120 will be plumbed through the floor so the fish room will be in the basement. That way I can ATO from the RODI unit and have stored salt water prepared and ready to pump into the sump for water changes. That should make working on the tank much easier and the living room will remain quiet.
