25% price increase?

I was just looking on the website where I ordered my Starter pack and all the prices seemed to have gone up 25%.

If only prices had only gone up 25% in Australia, we had a recent price increase of 62% with no explanation, it’s a great way for upsetting potential customers.

WE WILL ALWAYS EXPLAIN.

The prices have gone up in reflection to the sky high Euro against the dollar, we make no money on this increase in fact we have taken some of the increase on ourselves.

On our shipment before last we paid 1.43/1USD this time we paid 1.70/1USD.

To counter this we have introduced new packages that are reduced in price, thus still offering a great deal to the user of ProfiLux and also to new ProfiLux clients wanting to get onboard with the market leading controller at a very affordable price.

the prices are now exactly matching the prices in Europe also.

Thank you OQD_Ottawa,

However the above doesn’t apply to the Australian market, for example a four pump dosing unit currently retails for $954AU ($880US/$560EUR). I have been able to find pricing for the same unit in the US market for around $400US (cherry corals) which is roughly in line with the Australian prices prior to the 62% increase we have seen over here. The Australian distributor has been of little assistance in explaining these price movements, additionally the Australian dollar is performing relatively well in comparison to the EUR/US dollars, which makes this argument for such a huge increase less convincing.

I’m a huge fan of the GHL gear, I have setup a unit for my own tank and assisted in the setup and automation of a display tank for a LFS.

I am sure the GHL distribution will be as happy as I was to clarify the postion, and I am sure it will due to the massive hike in the EURO.

Remember two things here, we have swallowed some of the uptake in price ourselves, we can achieve this as sales are extremely high in North America for ProfiLux, secondly, Australia is over double the distance to Germany than we are so shipping will be more expensive, a lot more. 12% of our costs go on shipping, so imagine what percentage it is to get to Aus.

By no means am I placing the blame on the North American distributors nor GHL, I just questioning the merit behind such a large increase.

Below is a table of the highs, lows and the average of the AUD vs. EUR from the 1st of January 2007 up until today as you can see there has been very little variation between the AUD and the Euro, I can’t see the argument there?

Additionally pricing prior to the 1st of January 2008 across the board was 62% cheaper, once again I fail to see how shipping and or the falling value of the USD has such a huge impact on pricing here in Australia? Even if shipping is 25% of the value of the item, I still can’t see the justification for the price rise. I guess there is no point banging my head against a wall :hammer:, despite the evidence I guess we will need to put it down to the poor US dollar and expensive shipping to justify Australian consumers paying double what other markets are paying.

I think it is best to direct your concerns directly to the AU distributors.

As we are the North American/ canadian distributors, we really have nothing further to add to what already has been said. I can only give you the factual reasons for our price blip recently, and can only assume the AU distributors have had the same issues, i.e global markets

Because of the price increase, I ordered the four dosing pump for $360 while all the others have gone up. A day later, that went up. I'm sure the 10% discount should help out some.

We are making some huge investment changes in the next few months to make sure GHL stays not only competitive but also offers way more than any other control.

We will also guarrantee that when the EURO drops so will the prices.

You have invested in GHL and as such we will invest in you also and look after your future requirements as offordably as possible.
