250+ Tank overflows

I am looking into buying a 250 gal tank, with external over flows what is the advantage or disadvantage of external overflows? Pros/Cons?

it doesnt take up internal gallonage and its probably easy to work on an external drain than an internal drain for cleaning etc

External is usually desired because it doesnt take up room in the tank.
A downside of external is the plumbing is outside the tank instead of under the tank like on a traditional overflow.
