250 Watt DE MH Too much on a 10 Gal?

if look into my gallery, you'll see a 7 gallon minibow with a 250 DE MH about 12 inches above the water level. the tank eventually turned into a 54 Corner Bow and it did fine. Temp control is good because of the height on the lighting and I used a aquafuge to add additional water to the system for any other params that need to be adjusted.

Yeah, but I am not to fond of the 10K color. I like the 20K much more. Plus, I won't have any additional lighting for actinics. I already have the new bow, but I can't move anything till August. I am kinda stuck with what I have, plus, I want to experiment with the new lights and see if I can the corals to grow like crazy! Experimenting, who loves it??!!??

Sweet, I get my ballast and pendant next week, so as soon I install it I will post some pics. Belive it or not, the bulb will come before the actual fixture does. What a tease!

Sort of a tease. But it may be even more of a tease, had you had the pendant and ballast set up, with no bulb. ;)

Yeah, definitely.

I had a 400W running over a 20g in a canopy before. It was only during the winter though so heat wasn't an issue, man I got some good growths during that time, but it was a setup that only ran for 4 months before I sold everything, well, actually, it was a setup waiting to be sold to being with...

Ok, got the setup all hooked up. Now it is just a waiting game. I am going to start with 5 hour phot periods with the new setup and increase them about 10-15 minutes a week until I hit the 8 hours. Does anyone think this is too little of a time? Should I start with more or less? Also, for those using the XM 20,000K, the light seems a bit white, but from what I have read, MH have to run at least a 100 hours before they stabalize. Anyone else think the color is a bit white for a 20,000K?
