250 watt halide height

I guess we need to know also the type of bulb...10K, 14K, 20K, etc. and how far the corals are from the water's surface. I think it all matters, among other things.

Im just looking for YOUR height. No other consideration. Thanks all!

Then your question is pointless. With no name reflectors I had my DE lights around 5 inches off the water surface. With lumen brights the same bulbs are 15 inches off the surface and I have roughly 50% more light.

My Reef Optics 3 250's are 8-10 inches from the water, can remember if it was 8 or 10. I run a 20K bulb on Icecap ballasts.

Funny you should ask. I just asked Jeremy at Coralvue what he recommended for a height with lumenbright mini wide over my 180. He recommended 12 inches from the bottom of the reflector to the water. Currently, with my crap retro reflectors, I am running the about 10inches. Just bought the Lumenbrights but haven't installed them yet.

I have 250 wt ushio 10k's and my fixture hangs about 20 inches from the surface of the water, plan on bringing it down over time but the 10k ushios are pretty intense on the sps at first
