250 watt sunpod

I'm planning on adding a 250 watt sunpod onto my 24 gallon nanocube. Will it overheat the tank? I don't want to buy a chiller... I plan to run the tank open top with an eggcrate, so the evaporation will help keep the tank cool.

i think 150 is more than sufficient...250 is overkill and might actually start to be not beneficial, even if you're planning on keeping SPS...unless you're going full clam nanocube tank.

you may want to watch your placement with that kind of lighting alot of corrals will not like that much light. but you could do some cool shelfs to shield the lower lighted corrals if you have any

I believe you will have heat issues with a 250w. If u do decide to do it open top, just add a fan to cut down on the heat. More space between the fixture and the surface of the water will also help. I wouldn't use the egg crate. It will block out light and is an eye sore. JMO
