250w Ballast

Just out of curiosity not going to do this. . .obviously one can't run a larger wattage bulb in a smaller wattage ballast but what about vice versa? For instance, a 150w bulb in a 250w ballast should work right?

Yup, for a couple minutes or a hour or so and then the bulb will be toast.

No, chances are the bulb will not light, base incompatibility, possibility of a fire. Stick with the rated bulbs for that ballast, not interchangeable.
