250W MH ballast question

I am thinking about getting one of the following MH lights. What is the difference between electric and magnetic ballast?

I have not used either of those personally but in general the electric ballasts are slightly more efficient, are easier on the bulbs (i.e. they last a little bit longer) and generate less heat. Magnetic ballasts will often generate slightly more light and are cheaper. Both work.

i use to use magnetic but now use electronic (Lumateks).

Sanjay test various bulbs on various ballasts. According to my research, there is not a good bulb selection for bulbs on magnetic ballasts. Electronic ballasts runs bulbs alot better than magnetic ballasts. You have a much better bulb selection when you use a electronic ballast.

Electronic Ballasts use less energy.
Lumateks are also DEAD Silent too.

Here is a test I did with 2 brand new bulbs (250W) ran on different ballasts.
