250watt ice cap ballasts - what bulbs?

Was looking at 20k radiums but was told they wont run properly on icecaps so what do you suggest?I'm looking for that bright icewhite/blue look.

Reeflux? If so what color temp?

i have been running reeflux 12k on mine and I like the color of them alot thought about tring the 20k's as I like the more blue look but haven't yet.

I do like a bluer look but, I'm trying to avoid the monochrome type of blue that I am told I would get if I used radiums on my ice cap ballasts.

How are the XM 20ks on icecaps?
Does reeflux make a 20k?

I ran Phoenix 14Ks on mine and liked them just not blue enough for me. Now I run Oddysea 20K DE bulbs on my Icecaps and I love these bulbs. They put out the same PAR as the Phoenix 14Ks did, are nice and bright blue and only cost $10 on Ebay.

You sure about the PAR numbers on an Odyssea 20K being close to the Pheonix bulb?
I thought the Oddysea bulbs were a lot lower...

XM 20k's are very nice, the reason I switched to the reeflux 12k's is because I am looking for a little more growth.

if you are gonna do DE bulbs I would suggest pheonix. they have a very nice color.

I can't say anything about the odyssea except that I tried a couple and they burnt out in less than 3 weeks, all four of them so I will never do the cheap route again. my live stock is worth more than that.

Odyssea bulbs are garbage. Even if they matched par or a higher quality bulb it woudnt be for long. Would be find for a softie/LPS tank.

There is a reason they cost $10.

I will be running single ended.

The tank is a 125 and will be starting with all frags so I guess growth will be somewhat important.

I have 2 72" VHO's I can use to supplement with actinics. Should I use the URI super actinic R bulbs or the URI 454 actinic bulbs? Maybe one of each?
