Hi Guys,

Been away from the hobby for 15 years, finally got my feet wet again starting small and then going big again once i'm confident enough.

Question is I've stocked the tank with dead rock on the 07-06-2015
Using Seachem Stability to start the tank cycle, dosed 2 capfull on day one and 1 cap full everyday - till 7 days are up and then to stop dosing.

Also some of the rock came with the tank which was pulled down 4 weeks ago so maybe some life or ammonia from the rock?

Water tests are using API test kits;

Temp - 26.5 celcius

Salinity 1.025 Stable from 08-06-2015 to today

Ammonia 08-06-2015 2.0ppm 09-06-2015 2.0ppm 10-06-2015 4.0ppm and today 2.0ppm

Nitrite 08-06-2015 5.0 to today - nitrite have stayed the same

My skimmer was skimming very wet for 3 days and now no skimmate.

The T5 Lights are on 10 hours a day, id rather have the algae bloom at the start from the lights.

Thanks in advance :)

Doing fine.. Give it 4 weeks then start adding stuff slowly..
Don't run the lights too much or algae will take over too quickly..

Thanks guys, I just wasn't sure whether my cycle was going well or not, should I still be monitoring it everyday or just check every few days to see how its going?

My skimmer also started working again so not sure what happened there

I usually advise people new to the hobby to test daily more to get them used to testing and helping them understand the cycle better than any real need to test that frequently. If you feel from your past experience you are comfortable with water test kits and have a good feel for the cycle process then you would only really need to test once a week or even every other week during the cycle to monitor overall progress.

testing is going to be preference and by comfort level, ideal as mentioned above would be daily, but with experience this can be stretched out to monitor overall process. You seem to be going in the right direction.
