I have a 25G Nano
The cycle completed around May 1st after about a month.
I have been slow to stock with only a CUC added about a month ago.

My current routine is Sunday evenings I do the following:
  • 5G water change
  • Replace PolyFil (Walmart big box)
  • Full suite of tests- every one is done weekly- and done BEFORE my water change, so the readings are 100% 7 days old water.

Currently using Chemi Pure Elite and Seachem Purigen in bags after my skimmer. Using a Aquatic Life 115 Skimmer 24/7.

Dealt with some brown diatoms, but that cleared up after the cycle. Been dealing with some green hair algae which I have been picking anything large enough to grab and remove. Getting a TON of coraline algae on my dry rock. Currently operating with approx 30lbs of live rock (10lb seeded from LFS with 20lbs of Marco Dry).

Current readings are:
Temp- 78*
SG - 1.025
pH - 8.1
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20 (2nd week at 20, been dropping from approx 80 since the cycle completed beginning of May every week)
Calcium - 410
KH - 7.2
Mag - 1260
Phosphates - 0.02
TDS - 0-1ppm, RO/DI water obtained from LFS, tested whenever I get a new batch of top off water (ie not water in reused salt water mixing buckets)

I do want to start looking into fish, corals, etc. Just wondering if there is anything else I should be doing? I am in no hurry, but it would be nice to add some more life in the tank- that isn't algae.

Right now I am operating without lights for the last few days. Normally operate with Arctic T247 LED fixture. Actinic Blue on at 2pm, off at 11pm. White LEDS on at 3pm, off at 10pm. Operating both at 20%.

I would make one large 50% or bigger water change to bring down the nitrates, other than that you are fine to add livestock.

It's way too early to think about vodka or any other carbon dosing. Get the nutrients down with a big water change and you should be fine from there. Down the road when you have a bigger fish load you can start to think about dosing carbon if simple water changes can't keep up, but you are a long way from there.
