25G softy reef

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share my current low maintenance 25G softy tank with everyone. This tank doesn't get the proper care it's due but I do enjoy everything about it and im happy with where things are headed.

This tank was started in March 2024 so it's a few months short of it's 2nd birthday. It went through the typical stages, early success and growth, diatoms, cyano and then the unfortunate dinoflaggelate plague.

I've attached the photos in chronological order, with the last being this past week. The tank experienced losses last year in the dino battle but things have been stable the past 8-9 months.

Continued.

Interesting enough my toadstool has never expanded out the long polyps since the dino fight. The rock has been maturing, sponges and feather dusters have spread. There is a ton of small snails, mini conches perhaps? I've given up on anything besides softies as even my duncan I got in August has struggled. I had a great colony of beautiful clove polyps that made it through the first wave of dinos, regrew from a single polyp then lost them during the second wave of dinos. Were now around 9 months since we've got the dinos under control. I would love to add some cloves again with my next purchases.

Note: The photos were loaded in order yet they somehow show out of order. The current photos are the ones i added as thumbnails so are the larger ones below. The past ones i just attached and show the dinos at various points. The photos were often taken after cleaning the tank the day prior so they dont always do the dinos justice. They absolutely covered everything, and i unfortunately lost many corals and the ones that survived were shrunken down for nearly a year.

I love that green finger Nepthea/Sinularia. That’s one softie I’m thinking about adding in my upgrade (if I ever get it set up😂
