26"+ snowflake eel

musty baby

I acquired a very large 3 year old snowflake eel with a tank. I kept it in my refugium intending to set up the larger tank this month, but the size of the apartment i'm in for the next 6 months will not allow me to do so. For three weeks I've fought with myself on keeping it in the refugium for another 6 months, but I've decided to offer it up to anyone with a better home for it.

It is at least 26" long, and may still be growing. Previous owners hand fed with freeze dried shrimp/krill, I've been feeding thawed scallops/shrimp on a feeding stick (included). There were no problems in keeping it with other, much smaller, fish. The tank it was in previously had two 3" angels and a 2" royal gramma with no incidents. It is truly a beautiful fish. $50

Pint glass for size reference

Not to highjack your thread but I was at AE the other day and Adam had some eel in there on sale for $999.00 normally $1200.00

One expensive eel!!

I was at AE during the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival, was a nice place. That was a dragon eel, see them often enough but don't tend to see them disappear. No need to apologize, bumps are good.

I'll accept offers on the eel, and even "I'll take it if no one wants to buy it." Anybody interested?

Not to highjack the thread but if you come to the Blues fest next year I can get you in for free!

AE got a large Snowflake eel in right now too. To give you an idea of what ryansholl eel's worth. It was about 18" and they wanted like $89 for it.

I would love to have it but my wife hates snakes and that's petty darn close! :D How big around is it? About the size of a golf ball?

Yep, roughly a golf ball around. Thanks for the pricing covey, I tried looking to see what web sites might charge and kind of got discouraged since they're usually classified as 12"+ or 16"+ and most sites list the max size at 24" :)

Looks like if there's no interest I will be setting up that 75 gallon fuge after all!

Funny story got2lb - the single friend of mine that I'd choose to have around in a barfight, ~6'5", 260 lbs, ran screaming down my driveway when he first saw it.

If you really don't want it, you should contact like shedd aquarium or something see if they would want something that big, or the omaha zoo. Who knows they might take it.
