270 gallon tank for sell

Hello all old reef buddies!
Bill had already posted a sell thread to get me going (thanks Bill!) but I got a new wireless modem yesterday so my PC problems should be fixed. Yes I am selling the 270 sadley. Sometimes life just doesn't pan out the way we all hope it does and "untell death do us part" is sometimes shortened into untell one of them just changes there minds". Yes we are trying to sell the dream home and my dream tank but honestly I had lost all intrest in the tank over the past year or longer as it was and the inhabitens have suffered. We have had 21 showings on the home in 60 days and only 1 couple loved the tank and wanted to keep it definetly but haven't put in an offer.
I guess a 300 gallon fish tank in your living room is just not everyones cup of tea.....So we have taken the house off the market for a month to rip the tank out and put in some boaring ol shelf. I know ..."GASP"... from all us fish nuts but the tank seems to be hurting the house more than helping it and we are in a bit of a hurry so we can get on with the rest of our lifes. So I will list the tank and all the stuff to go with it. I will add to the list tommorow with some more pics. I had knee surgery today so I am laid up for 3 days minimum so I figure I can hang out on-line and hopefully sell all my goodies. I had an old double meniscal tear I figured I better get fixed on his insurence as one last parting gift :eek2: :uzi:

TANK: Purchased the spring of 2008 from glasscages so its aprox. 3 years old. It has starfire front and back and 1.5" overflows on both ends with PVC durso's installed. It has 1 tiny scratch that is about 1 inch long and very faint. I don't even think a camera will pick it up if I took a pic so the tank is in perfect condition. One of the overflow covers got cracked during the widening of the teeth on a table saw but it doesn't hurt the functioning of it at all. It's 7 ft long 24x24x30 and built like a tank. I had them make 4 openings on the top so you can get better coverage with 4 halides and no cross braces are in the way. I would like to get $1,500 for the set up as listed and will put up part out prices in a few days after it has been on craigslist a bit as a set up.

2 250 WATT icecap metal halides with spider reflectors

2 400 Watt "?" brand metal halides with spider reflectors ( I will look in the morning)

2 Tunze with the multicontroller (I think Bill mentioned the size I will look to be sure) I will give the guy who posted on Bills thread dibbs...

Big Iwaki pressure rated pump

100 gallon rubbermaid sump

at least 300 lbs of mixed figi, tonga and marshal island rock.

I'll add more as I think of it and hobble around looking at names and extras in the garage.

PIC OF ROCK....

This is a link to the profesional pics of the house. The tank is shown in the virtual kitchen tour very good. I have a great idea! Why doesn't someone just buy my house and I will throw the tank in for free :) I just hate to tear it out so bad!! To me it makes the house! But the real estate agent also thinks it should go. Most of the feedback says they would want the tank removed also. I guess we fish folk are a rare breed.FWIW since I know someone will ask it was listed at $629,900.

Absolutly beautiful tank. Just let me know what you want for he powerheads. Also good luck with the impending doom of a selling non reef related infraction;) ......at least you did list the price:) just kidding, we tried to sell our home five yrs ago with a 300g built into the basement. I always wondered if it was what hurt the sale, but never could bring myself to pull the tank. We got a rent to own offer and left the reef. After about six moths the deal went south and we returned to an empty tank:(

good luck,
-bart

If you part it out, i would be interested in the Iwaki pump. What kind of skimmer do you have? My 240 needs a better one.

Yea it is kinda emotionally hard to tear it out....IMO its just beautiful and makes the house but we all know what people say about opinions ;)

I sold the skimmer already and I will get some prices figured up on part out today and post them so if it doesn't sell as a set up soon.

Wow my knee is huge today. I guess I should have followed Drs. orders and kept it elevated more yesterday!

I love your divider set-up. I have the exact same thing, except mine is a 240 (glass cages built mine to) and my house is not as nice. My wife loves your house and wants it, just a bit out of our price range. Good luck on the sell.

Angela...I would be interested in either set of Halides depending on price of course and if you could ship them to me....I am in no hurry but I would like first dibs if no one else has.

Beautiful tank and house....Best of luck.

Mike

72" L x 30"H x 24" W With overflows on the ends of the tank for viewing from both sides as a room divider

info from other sale thread.....

Okay, I am just a little confused, cause that ~225 gal. not 270. Now at 84LX 30H X 24W, that's 261 gal. Thanks

Sorry if I was a little confusing last night...It was late and I was on demeral :) All equipment listed is included short the live rock and fish.Fish have been sold. I have a nice multicontroller and all rock, a Uv and some other unlisted equipment, and what corals are left for $2,000 total which is a steal if you were to peice prices out. I am talking with someone about the compleat set up so hopefully it will go as a set up.

FWIW.....
Using the following input parameters
Tank Length = 84 inches
Tank Width = 24 inches
Tank Height = 31 inches (I looked on GC's and it is 31 tall)

Tank volume is calculated as
Tank Volume = 270.5 Gallons

But the tank is sold compleat pending paypal. Thanks for looking! I have a bunch of odds and ends that I will let the buyer look through first and then I will post anything left. I know I have some extra 400 watt halides but he may want to run all 400's.....

Hey John...You still reefin or just frogs? Its going to be pretty sad not having a reef at all now. I debated on keeping a 40 tall but realistically dragging fish around will be just too much to fool with.
I have the blue Azures I raised still and plan on keeping and one luc and 2 black ones with green spots from CKreef. I am going to have to rehome the 2 black ones and the luc since I am trying to lighten my animal load pending moving around. I have 2 FW tanks, 2 guinie pigs, 2 rabbits, 2 cats and 3 wild kids to tend so no reef and one less frog tank will be a lot less to worry about. I will probably dump the 2 FW tanks also.

Do you still have your lucs? Maybe mine could come move in with yours? He is pretty skinny but the black one he is housed with bully him and I have never gotten him out into his own tank. LMK if you want him/her.

If he doesn't get the dart frogs we might be interested. We have been looking for some for a while.
