270 setup questions

I've got a standard 270 (6'x3'x2') and I'm currently running a pair of WP-40s. I'm thinking about replacing them with a wavebox and a stream or two, but I'm concerned that I don't have enough room at the top of the tank for a wave.

I only have ~1/2" of space between the top of the water column and the top panel of the tank.

My main goals are to create an oscillating water motion that will cause my soft corals to sway and to get water movement in all the nooks and crannies of the tank. The tank is primarily soft corals and LPS with a 2-3" fine sand bed at this time and likely to stay that way.

How large of a wave would the 6212 and 6215 wavebox typically make in a tank this size?

Is it possible to alter the frequency slightly to reduce the height of the wave while still keeping the pump controller at full speed, and would this be of any benefit with regards to the amount of water that is moved in the tank?

I'm wondering what you suggest I go with?

Thanks a lot!

Another quick question:

Can the wide-flow shroud be attached to the 6085 pump? Would there be any adverse effects from doing so?

Do the 6085's come with the secondary wide-flow shroud, or must it be purchased separately?

Thanks.

I would rule out the wavebox, if you can't accomodate at least a 3/4" wave, it is not a worthwhile investment. You can turn the wave down, but to generate any meaningful flow, a higher wave is needed. At full power on a 270 I would expect a 6215 to produce a 3/4"-1" wave

Regarding the 6085, it is not included, I am not sure adding one would be worthwhile, the flow would cover 2.5-3ft by 3ft and be very diffuse. The 6125 has this wide shroud already and is a bit stronger so it will cover 4-4.5ft by 3ft.
