28gal JBJ TBS set up

So I got a new 28gal JBJ CF Quad nano tank about a month ago and decided to order my live rock/sand from TBS. I am VERY glad that I chose TBS this is the best rock and sand I have ever seen. The other Live rock/ sand that I have had looks like dead rock when compared to this. I went and picked up part one of the package on Tuesday and love it. While stiring the sand up in the bag prior to putting it in the tank I almost got stung by a urchin that was hangin out in the sand. I put on my aqua gloves and finished up. Here is a few pictures.

If anyone could id any of the stuff in the pics Please LMK

Thanks
Ron

P.S. If anyone has any tips on catching mantis shrimp LMK. I have tried to net him but he is too fast. Also I would like to thank Richard again for the great rock. There is one that is almost the size of a volley ball but it is almost completly hollow it has caves running everywhere through it. I LOVE the rock and can't wait for part 2

Yea I know the tank dosent look great I haven't aquascaped at all. I had an amonia spike the second day that the rock was in and did a 5gal wc then did another 5gal wc the next day. The amonia is now running at about .5 ppm so I will see what happens.

Looking good!

You have tunicates on the rock, barnacles, feather dusters, many types of sponges, plants and macros .....plus tons of other stuff......there is a critter ID page on my website at

www.tbsaltwater.com

that has some pics of some of what you have...

also the urchin....will not "sting", but will puncture your skin if squeezed to tightly, they can be safely handled, just gently!

Any idea what the crabs are?

Thanks

You probably don't need to worry about the mantis. They get a bad rap but the small ones are fairly harmless unless you're a small snail or a small hermit.

It might eat your barnacles, but those are incredibly difficult to keep alive anyway.

Hey Bio. Do you have a mantis for your tank yet?

Sorry OP didn't mean to steal your thread.

No, nor do I have a tank set up :D

Hopefully my new job will come through and I'll once again be ordering from Richard :)

If you get set up, pm me first. I may have one that may need a home by that point. I am just too lazy to catch it for now, but it is about 2 1/2" maybe a bit larger. N. wennerae. I'm in Klamath Falls, so wouldn't be much to meet in Oakridge or something. Anyway, just keep it in mind.
