I have decided to create a log for a 29 gal HQI i have at the office. I wasn't originally going to do this but after my last failed nano attempt with a 12 gal cube i decided logging it was good for several reasons, not the least of which was keeping me focused and on top of the tank care.
My experience with the 29 GAL Oceanic HQI started off a bit rocky, after discovering a few leaks in the seams after getting it setup and stocked in the office. The leaks were so slow you couldn't even see them but after a few days of the floor getting progressively wetter i realized i had a problem. Tracking down the leak was impossible as it was taking place under the plastic but i was able to video tape a very SLOW leak and send it to Oceanic's customer support. The support was great i must say, they did ship me out a new tank to replace the leaking tank (credit to oceanic for good customer service)
The tank was originally setup December 23rd, but after the leak fiasco and everything having to be moved to the new tank its "official" start date would be more like the 1st of February.
My plan for the tank has been to use a combination of purigen and chemipure to keep the water quality stable in the tank. But since its setup i have been leaning more and more towards a small skimmer (and not the one that comes with it) but so far its running just chemipure elite (1/2 unit) and purigen.
So the first post is pretty basic i know, but i look forward to sharing my second attempt at creating a healthy nano tank!
