29g oceanic biocube chamber question

Hello all. I'll explain the scenario first before I ask my question.

In my first chamber (first one on left if looking at tank from the front) is my pump. The middle chamber is my chemipure elite and filter floss. My 3rd chamber is my skimmer. For months my middle chamber had water just to the floss and the first chambers water level was right between the min and max level line but now all of the sudden that middle chamber is filled to the top and the pump chamber water level is pretty low and my tank has lots of bubbles.

So my question is which way is the way it should be?

Sponge? Do you mean my filter floss in the middle chamber? In my pump chamber I don't have a sponge, just a pump.

Check to make sure that your pump is clean and working well. I've had that same issue and it was my pump.

I still say it sounds like a blockage between chambers. Mine came with a sponge deep down between the middle and pump chamber that I quickly removed.

Yep there is a sponge between the two chambers down next to where the pump is. If you still have it pull it and through it in the trash. I agree with ryeguyy that your water is backing up like that do to a blockage. Maybe the sponge or maybe the filter floss or even the Chemi bag is blocking the flow once you remove these things and reposition it will remedy the problem. The only other thing it could be is your not keeping up with the evap but that would not explain the middle chamber having water in it and not the pump area. If you’re looking for a ATO I love the tunze osmolator. Hope this info helps.

Well you guys are amazing! I do have a sponge there lmao. I removed it, cleaned it and now the problem is solved. Thank you so much. What is the purpose of that sponge? Do I need it? Yesterdays problem is solved bur now I have a new one...I think my anemone ate my clown :-(

I think that sponge is put in there to confuse all the people that buy this tank……………….

No the real reason it’s there is to act like a final water polisher and keep back the micro bubbles you get from the wet dry. But who uses the bio balls anyway? I guess if you set the tank up as fresh water set up then the wet dry is the way to go. Glade to hear this simple solution was all you needed.

What kind of nem do you got? Is it a Condy? Cus that would do it. But I will also tell you being new to the nano reef side of things its rather ambitious to have a nem. Also its not un heard of to lose things at first to things you over look. If you have a good cleanup crew then a dead clown would be eaten in mins. So don’t discredit yourself. Keep up the good work; you’re about 40 steps further on the path to success than 90% of new reef keepers. Just being able to open up on here and asking questions.

Also post some pix for us. We may be able to make a few suggestions from the pix, also it helps others get ideas from your set up to use in their own.

I got a rbta. Now that the clown is dead my nem is looking better. In the past I had 72g and 36g I have to say I enjoy my 29g the best! People kept telling me nanos are too difficult but I think it's way easier. Water changes are a breeze. My parameters are all at zero. I will start a new thread posting all my picks probably on Sunday :-)
