2am alarm

I just woke up to my RKL alarm going off!!!
This is the first time it has happened, the temperature is reading too hot. I double checked the temp and its ok, but that means the heater won't kick on when needed. Anyone know where I can get a new temp probe on a Sunday?

This is good and bad, at least the alarm worked. I think it is finally time to set up back ups for everything in my system. More questions to come.

PS - I will be out of town all week, so need to figure out a solution today, thanks.

I don't know anything about RKL systems so much/all of the following might not apply.

Have you tried re-calibrating? Have you re-booted the RKL?

I have an Apex. If the temp probe is compatible, you are welcome to borrow it. (real long shot here!!). The Apex probe has a RJ-11 connector.

Well that stinks. See if you can find a seperate heater controller, that might be easier than a new probe, at least temporarily.hope that helps.

I have run into this before no one local carries a temp probe only. Have to buy a whole reefkeeper lite system or pay for overnight shipping to get it on tuesday.

When I had a problem neptune was the closest that had RKL in stock.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I ended up recalibrating the probe and checking on the tank every hour or so since 2am. Without knowing how stable the probe is I am contemplating just using the heater without the controller while I am out of town this week. Any concerns on using the heater without the controller until Friday when I can get a new probe in the mail?

What else should I back up?

Here is the start of my order for tomorrow.

New Temp probe (Maybe a second one as well)
Second Heater
New PH Probe
Some type of battery back up for heater
Battery back up for 1-2 MP40's

Am I missing anything? Any ideas for a heater battery back up? I dont really want to store a generator.
thanks
