I have an A. Latezonatus in a 55 gal QT. I started the quarantine with a formalin bath repeated every 3 days for 3 treatments up till now(day 10 of QT). PraziPro was added to the QT on day one and I wanted to do a second treatment. On day 7 I did a 25% water change and have done this for the past 3 days, I also do a nightly vacuum of all waste and excess foods then top off (about 5-10 gal). I put on a magnum 350 canister with carbon to remove any residual meds and today I turned my skimmer on to wet skim what I could.
Did I need to remove what meds that were in the QT? Should I have just added a 2nd dose on day 7 without removing all residual meds? Or, should I have started my 2nd treatment with fresh saltwater? I usually only do 1 treatment of PraziPro as a preventative measure.
I had planned on doing my formalin baths, 2 treatments with PraziPro, then 3 weeks with Cupramine. However this clownfish shows no signs of spots, twitching , or flashing. The clownfish swims around the tank exploring and eagerly accepts small feedings 3X a day. I am thinking of not doing the Cupramine and just watching it for another 4wks or so. Is this a prudent move or should I just take all the preventative measures?
It took me 3 years to obtain this fish and I want to make sure it survives with less stress as possible. However, I know they are notorious Brook/fluke magnets. I also should mention that this clownfish came in with another that did not look good and covered with spots, one clouded eye, and loose raised scales. It died at the LFS the next day. Even though they were not in the same tank or system, I am assuming they were in the same system at the wholesalers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
